Don’t be misguided by fashion trends
Fashion trends are always welcome mostly by people who are choosy with what to wear.
Over the years, the fashion industry has kept varying. However, some styles fade at the cost of new ones on the scene. In most cases, people want to try out everything that comes by, but is everything worth it?
There are trends that come by and I wonder what other people are thinking about them. I do not incline myself to criticism; so, I will not pin anybody for choosing to look the way they feel is the best. For a gentleman, I must say there’s a limit whenever you are choosing your apparel.
Women can get away with so much because they are simply women. They sometimes want to appear like flowers in need of pollination; so, they ought to look the best they can.
A lady will wear expensive perfumes, clothes, ornaments and most importantly, hairdos that are to complicated to even be interpreted by a future fashion philosopher. But yes, these wonderfully-created beings can get away with it, because they are who they are.
I find it illogical for a corporate man to wear brightly-coloured garments. First of all, by the virtue of your colour selection, you are almost everywhere in the eyes of your workmates. You have completely distracted the fresh intern and are simply a reminder of Noah’s rainbow story with God.
For the beach; yes, you can wear those bright colours. Also, how on earth would a corporate man wear bling beside the rosary?
One walks 10 metres past you and you can still hear the echo of the many chains he is wearing. Seriously, there are certain things that shouldn’t go scot-free by the laws of masculinity. I will pardon those men who gloss their lips, only that just a little should be used.
And then, avoid looking very crowded. Be a man that you ought to be. After bathing, dress gracefully, wear that breathtaking cologne, have your necktie, shirt and trousers worn right. Match the colours right, wear fitting and right shoes for the day, a wrist watch and all you need as a man.
Then walk out of the house as the man that you are, please!
Halima Nayiga, proprietor of Filan boutique in Kampala, says a corporate man should just wear his fitting shirt, have a fitting blazer if need be and wear fitting shoes to create the masculine look.
She adds that men should refrain from too much bling and different hairstyles because “a simple haircut is enough to cover one’s elegance”.
I will be considerate because we are surrounded by different occupations and professions. Due to this, our dress code may differ. However, no matter how stylish you are, there are clearly demarcated no-go areas for a corporate fella.
Depending on your profession, keep it manly and masculine; do not let your style loudly reflect the fashion trends excitement.
